A Podcast.
Some of you may remember the Stikkit Technology Podcast… it ran for a while, had a fair few listeners.. and kind of fizzled out.
Let me start from the veeeerrry beginning.
3 Years ago.. my friend Andy and I, decided to make a podcast whilst in the uni canteen to kill a few hours during lectures. The podcast named “Breakfast With Jim and Andy” gained few listeners, was painfully boring to listen to, and contained a lot of “canteen sounds”. It was dire, but we learned a lot from it (mainly that we enjoyed this podcasting malarkey)
Cue… the Stikitt Technology podcast…
Nice quiet room, microphones, mixers and a shiny Apple Mac to edit it on.We had some phone interviews (Including LUG Radio’s Jono Bacon, Micosoft’s Stephan Lamb… and a text interview with Richard Stallman)
People around the Uni campus tuned in, and it was far more entertaining than the old shit we were churning out. The problem with the Stikkit podcast was that because I was using my company name for this thing, we were constantly worried about being sued and couldn’t let rip on companies for doing stupid things and had to tone the banter down.
For the last year, myself, Andy and others have been talking about starting the podcast again… we have the technical know-how, got the do’s and dont’s of radio down, and just needed a format that allowed us to say whatever we wanted. With the untimely end of LUGRADIO… we realised we had to get our asses into gear - the world needed another podcast that wasn’t just people agreeing with each other (why I find TWIT, Linux Action Show etc.. a tad boring)
So we had this idea… what if there was Top Gear… for Computers.
Welcome Top Geek.

We will be recording first week of September… Video and Audio… we have some *really* cool stuff lined up… including Top Geek challenges that will (hopefully) give you all a few laughs.

For anyone that is looking for a podcast to listen to… I’ll take this opportunity to plug the Ubuntu-UK podcast. If you’re into all things Ubuntu… listen to it!!!!! It’s very light hearted and good fun to listen to - Popey and the gang do a great job on this, a great contribution to the Ubuntu in the UK.

Ooooh yes…it’s gonna be greeeat!
